Part 20: Jekhar and Rosalind's Bogus Journey

Ruined Lenele

The skies over Lenele were dark with carrion birds. And even living men, for want of food, ate the corpses of the dead.

Avrum Market lay barren and desolate, a wasteland of decay. The mighty walls that repelled invaders for hundreds of years now crumbled into dust.

Here perished the Duke of Tarhimun, loyal to King Bellias to the very end. Here the last of the Medevans clawed through the rubble, struggling to feed their children in the shadow of the temple, desecrated and forlorn.

The canals of the city turned red with innocent blood. And in the ruins of the palace ruled a new king and queen.

Powerful wards had been cast in every corner of the city. Watchful eyes waiting for the return of the Summoner and Sihua, rightful heir of Medeva's throne.

Joseph and Flece remained outside the city walls, for even the king and queen failed to anticipate the return of the Summoner's powerful friends, Jekhar and Rosalind of Iona.

Soundtrack - Return to Lenele

Back in Lenele, Joseph and Flece will be sitting it out. Time for Jekhar and Rosalind to shine.

We will show those royal and prophetic chumps how its done.

Death is the only companion they will see in the ruins of Lenele. Throngs of skeleton knights, liches, and mummies now occupy the streets.

Yes, not a soul remains within the... what the fuck?

No way. Can't wait to hear this explanation.

Let's make him squirm a bit.

I haven't found it yet.

Durgan the sailor: I can't leave Lenele without it! For months I've been standing here, and I've nearly frozen to death! If you get it back for me, I'll reward you.

*Give him the charm.*

Durgan the sailor: At last! So many times I thought to myself, 'I should just leave!' But then a voice would say to me, 'Don't give up hope. He will return with your lucky charm.' And so you have! Here's a fine sword for your trouble, friend.

So many times, while I was hiding under piles of corpses to evade the soldiers I thought to myself, 'I should just leave.' Every time I had to eat the corpses of the deceased I thought to myself, 'I should just leave.' When my ship sank and the captain was flayed alive by demons of myth and legend I thought to myself, 'I should just leave.'

In the end, we get 100,000xp and this sword. The xp is quite nice, and but the sword has a severe downside in that it is not the debasser. Oh well~~

There is an occasional steel golem to fight along with all the undead. Jekhar dismantles them.

Everything in Lenele is severely jacked up.

I have no idea what purpose this thing serves.

This place got ruined. Thankfully, this was the old entrance to the sewers! So we will have to find another way into the city. Maybe a back alley?

That other way is an alternate entrance to the sewers.

Sewer trip #4.

We find some knockoff Jade Golems down here now. Jekhar can kill them in two strikes. He is frighteningly strong now.

There are also a few gargoyles in the sewers now, they are pretty durable, but it just means they take longer to get reduced to rubble.

I don't ever remember seeing this beast in the game before. This can be found down in the old bacite camp.

The gargoyles end up dropping a nice set of gloves for Flece and a carving for the khosani map we found in the Jade Temple.

We finally make it out of the sewers and into what remains of the marketplace.

Little remains of the marketplace, btw.

Looks like the acting troupe we helped with their urgent issue fell flat.

Turns out Rosalind can achieve the highest damage numbers in the game, beyond even Flece's backstabs! Don't cast spells while sitting in a firewall!

This is an absurd amount of death and destruction! Joseph really outdid himself when he melted his hand!

Finally, we have reached the palace.

But Sornehan's knights are still guarding their 'King'.

Meteor storm is actually a damn nice spell, when there are enough targets that it does not target a friendly, and the enemies are weak to fire. It is especially funny when the liches cast it and it does 0 damage to Jekhar then a meteor hits them in the head.

All that remains of Bellias is a busted statue.

Rosalind is a goddamn Lich Obliterator.

Time for Jekhar and Rosalind to have a little chat with the monarchs...

The Nhuvasarim

Sornehan: Who dares approach the throne of the Medevan king?

Sornehan: Bow before your sovereign and beg for our mercy!

I am Jekhar, warrior of the Jade Temple.

And I am Rosalind, of the Order of Iona.

Sornehan: Friends of the Summoner? And why haven't you brought him to us?

Sornehan: Unlike Murod, we are not vain and fearful creatures.

Sornehan: We would be more than content... to destroy him.

Galienne: And where is Flece, Tancred's whore? If she desires her father's throne why hasn't she come?

Galienne: Does she think Medeva can be won by cowardice?

Medeva?! You have destroyed Medeva!

There is no kingdom left to bend under the yoke of your tyranny!

Galienne: There is no kingdom but the kingdom of the dead.

Galienne: As the monarchs of old served Urath, we are disciples of Laharah.

Galienne: In the Great Library we uncovered the secrets of the Nhuvasarim.

Sornehan: The exiled one shall rule this world as she rules over the realm of ghosts and phantoms.

Sornehan: As the people of Medeva suffer and die, she grows ever stronger.

Sornehan: Now Orenia will face her wrath!

Galienne: The demons have returned to gather their strength.

Galienne: The stone warriors of Ikaemos, the imps and salamanka below Saanavarh, the skeleton knights of the Iona catacombs.

Sornehan: The Rings have been destroyed! The demons cannot be stopped! Not even by your Summoner.

We have come for the scrolls you have stolen from the Great Library.

Return them to us and we will show you mercy.

Galienne: There will be no mercy for you, Rosalind of Iona!

Sornehan: And you, Jekhar of the Jade Temple!

Sornehan: Prepare to meet your doom...

Time to exact some vengeance for Medeva and Iona!

This fight can be tricky, Sornehan is a fast and capable fighter, he is also immune to all physical damage.

Galienne is the opposite, in that she is immune to all magical damage and casts debuffing and damaging spells.

I like this picture, it pretty much represents the pair, Galienne is a worthless fuck up and Sornehan spins around looking cool, but doesn't accomplish much.

The key to this fight is absolutely keeping both of their attention on Jekhar while he caves in Galienne's head.

Once she is taken care of, simply place Sornehan in a sufficiently dramatic location for a duel, and set alight.

A fitting end, dying on the scorched remains of Lenele on the ruined map of Medeva.

We retrieved another carving for the map in the palace.

The scrolls have been recovered. Time to go demon hunting.
